Beeing a leader or a coworker is a constant cooperation / balancing act with others

In my experience one of the more important areas to address is the balance between feeling and logic,

Core Human Values

If you look at humans in general, there are some values that can be looked upon as being common to all of us (Core Human Values).

 

Core Human values are the core principles and beliefs that guide how we behave, interact with and treat others. These values form the foundation of what is considered moral, ethical and respectful in society. They are universal in nature and promote harmony, compassion and a better way of living.

Why Are Human Values Important?

-  They foster positive relationships

-  They create a more just and peaceful society

-  They promote personal growth and self-respect

-  They ensure mutual respect and understanding in diverse communities

Core Human Values are:

1. Respect

2. Empathy

3. Integrity

4. Kindness

5. Responsibility

6. Equality

7. Gratitude

8. Courage

9. Humility

10. Compassion

Core Human Values

Values are important because they serve as guiding principles in our lives, shaping our decisions, behaviours and interactions with others.

 

Why Values matter

-  Guide Decision-Making

-  Shape Identity & Character

-  Improve Relationships

-  Create a Sense of Purpose

-  Build Trust & Accountability

Overall, a human centered organisation prioritises people and relationships, recognising that their well being, satisfaction and engagement are essential drivers of success and sustainability

Reflection: I  have been travelling around the world within the Volvo Truck organisation and then we have introduced parts of the model all over the place
It was introduced in different manners in different organisations with different results, difficulties and benefits.

  • The conclusion that I made is that everybody can learn something from someone else - no one is perfect!

  • And if we could use the best way to work all over the world everyone becomes better

Living after these values feels right.

But be aware that if you have these values, there is a risk that someone not applying to them runs you over. E.g. Equality (everybody`s equal rights).

 

If this is the case, react quickly and make a lot of noise.

Respect (Core Human Values)

Respect is a feeling of deep admiration for someone, or something elicited by abilities, qualities and achievements. The trust needs to be earned – it doesn’t come with the appointment

Respect is a big word. There needs to be mutual respect within the group but also mutual respect between the group and the leader.

A succesfully lead group will earn trust from other colleagues and customers.

Creating Respect by:

 

-    Consistency

-    Integrity

-    Empathy

-    Competence

-    Communication

-    Humility

-    Respect for Others

By implementing these strategies, leaders and teams can create an emotionally safe environment where individuals feel supported, valued, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work.

3. Integrity

Integrity means being honest, trustworthy and sticking to strong moral and ethical principles.

It involves doing the right thing even when no one is watching

Examples:

-  Being truthful in your words and actions

-  Keeping promises and commitments

-  Respecting your own and others’ boundaries

-  Standing up for what is right, even when it’s difficult

In leadership and teamwork, integrity builds trust and respect, making it a key value in both personal and professional life.

4.  Kindness

Kindness is the quality of being considerate, compassionate and generous towards others.

 

It involves showing care, empathy and respect in both words and actions without expecting anything in return.

Examples:

-  Helping someone in need

-  Helping an elderly person cross the street

-  Listening and offering support when someone is struggling

-  Showing appreciation and gratitude

-  Treating others with respect and patience

-  Offering a smile to brighten someone’s day

-  Help a colleague to improve his or her important presentation

-  Act as a generous sounding board to someone

-  To see and acknowledge the persons around you

Kindness strengthens relationships, creates a positive environment and can inspire others to act with kindness as well.

5. Responsibility

Responsibility is the ability to take ownership of one’s actions, duties and decisions.

It means being accountable for what you do and following through and follow up on commitments, whether in personal, professional or social settings.

Examples:

-  Cleaning up after yourself in a shared space

-  Completing tasks on time at work or school

-  Taking care of family and loved ones

-  Admitting mistakes and learning from them

-  Following rules and ethical principle

Being responsible builds trust, reliability and a sense of integrity in both personal and professional life.

Moral Ambition

Moral Ambition is the drive to dedicate one’s career to solving the worlds most urgent global challenges rather than pursuing traditional markets of success like wealth or prestige

The biggest waste of our time is the waste of talent. Around the world, there are millions of people who can make major contributions toward creating a better world, but don’t.

It means:

-  Aiming for impact beyond yourself

-  Choosing work that helps others or society

-  Making a difference concerning global challenges

-  Measuring success by contribution and change, not only
   money or status

-  Being willing to act on your values, even when it’s difficult

In short, moral ambition is about wanting your life’s work to matter ethically and socially, not just personally

Core Principles:

 

1.Redefining Success:
Shifting how to measure success from a personal view (money or career steps) to social impact (did the world benefit from this?)

2.Strategic Impact:
Focusing on the most neglected, solvable, and sizeable problems, such as climate change, pandemics, and extreme poverty.

3.Career Centricity:
Are you working in an area where the world benefits from your contribution?
